Fresh from workin on and off stage with Yo Majesty founder Shunda K (look out in 2009) Brooklynite Kotchy's club-savvy Hip-Hop, with J Dilla style drop and stop beats and Prince like soul has been attracting the attention more than just those lucky enough to see him perform in his increasingly savvy live shows, or drumming with NY super group Violet. Remixers galore are clammering over his beats. After a sold out 7" and remixes from Drums of Death and Reso, Kotchy's is back with more, 12 inches more, Sing What You Want And One For The Money from his 2009 album "89", which if these are anything to go by is gonna be something to watch out for, and 3 very interesting workouts from remixers Rusko, MRK1 and Starkey. Out 24th Nov On Civil Music And Seclusiasis.

"Sing What You Want" quickly confirms why Kotchy's been compared to Prince & Pharrell. A gifted producer and drummer come musical whizzkid Kotchy's groove, clipped beats and captivating vocals make a Club Sound, Hip-hop affair with a top line that oozes style and vintage NYC feel. Rusko's Skwee Remix is quite different to the bass wizard's recent outings and trademark live performances. Rusko's LFO basslines are replaced with a cutely funky, happy, feel good track, all influenced by his love of "Skwee" a new sound coming out of Scandinavia. Can this prodigal son of bass do everything? Dubstep and Grime overlord MRK1's Remix is a huge dance floor destroyer, MRK1 keeps the beauty but his LFO and bass add chest splitting beast

With "One For the Money"there's a more intelligent, deconstructive feel. Dub-conscious dance music for fan's of Flying Lotus, Rustie and Beck, it's beautiful and anthemic. Heartfelt vocals, Kotchy's prodigious talent with his drum kit and eloquent cuts & samples all intertwine with a melancholic, nostalgic feel. Starkey's amazing mutant pop rework morphs the track into a dancefloor cluster bomb. Wonky pitch-bent synth's and acid drenched bass spatter the track that strip's down and jacks into a string outro. Planet Mu's latest signing does his business all over this one! Finally on download only its One For The Money's BD1982 Remix, a Stones Throw feel, experimental dub and atmospheric electronica descend on the original track, beats fall over themselves as radiophonic anomalies drip all around
