Parisian Synth Magician dEbruit joins the Civil Music stable along side Reso, Rusko, Kotchy, Drums of Death and Starkey.

dEbruit has pedigree. 2 sensational EPs Coupe DEcale and most recently Cle De Bras on his and his hommies Parisian label Musique Large.

When Boomkat made the sell-out Cle De Bras their Record of the week they described his sound as a

“no holds barred assault through dark Congolese sound systems, downtown L.A. block parties gone wrong, haze filled Kingston recording studios and freaky Tunisian backstreet souks; all powered by a fat hip hop engine…. the heaviest wonky fusions we've heard this year".

Clark, DE:Bug and most of the French press had him pegged as one to watch and XLR8R picked 2 of his tracks in their top 50 of 2008, and recently noted he was their their most downloaded artist with 4 out of the top 10 tracks featuring his trademark synths. dEbruit pushes the boundaries with new technique and analogue vibes causing West Coast originator Kutmah to enquire “ how’d you get yours shit so clean and loud"

In a Congolese basement bar down a Paris side-street is where you’ll normally find dEbruit dropping beats but after his trip to Red Bull’s academy in Barcelona last summer he’s been on the body poppin’ all over Europe and the UK. Along with Hip-House alter ego KeeCLAC he’s been remixing Architeq, Kotchy, Meanest Man Contest and Fischerspooner.

With excitement building for the Let’s Post Funk Release (which has been a highly guarded secret until now) and with Daedelus’ firm seal of approval stamped on March 09’s Low flying sell-out Cle De Bras, this summer looking heavyweight for dEbruit (Real name Xavier Thomas). Parties with Joker, Mike Slott, Jackson, Buliion, Paul White and Floating Points in the UK, more European dates including the main stage at Sonar. All before leaving Paris behind for London to concentrate on his as yet untitled album due early 2010 on Civil Music.

As a first taste of that album Let’s Post Funk is undoubtedly pretty special. dEbruit’s heavy wonky synth lead madness funks out on the West Coast with guest vocals from Om’Mas Keith, Jamie Woon, Cerebral Vortex and Buddy Leezle (AKA 215TFK) & Stray. dEbruit just keeps getting better, and On Lets Post Funk he’s stepped up his production yet again and showcases his freewheelin synthlines, looping and wobbling perfectly. Angular beats chop and wild bass and west coast vibes spill everywhere. dEbruits sound is unmistakabley French but combined with 80’s B-Boy,

On I’m Goin’ Wit You dEbruit out does himself, his blunted synthline is unmistakable and when you throw in Om’Mas and Jamie’s soulful harmonies, killer hooks and candy floss raps it make for something special for Summer ’09. Seductive and playful, Om’Mas croons “Baby we could hit a movie show, and then later we can take it low" While Jamie gets “delirious", This ones for that block party we all keep meaning to have.

L.A based Hip-Hop don Om’Mas Keith (of Sa-Ra Creative Partners [Ubiqitey/Jazz Sport/Baby Grande/Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D]) has produced for Jay-Z, Erykah Badu and is part of Hip-Hop super-group C.O.L.O.U.R.S with Kanye West & Andre 3000 but when he heard dEbruits instrumental he was blown away and said had to record on it. He and London based, Singer Songwriter Jamie Woon got together with dEbruit at Rebull Barcelona and laid down the track effortlessly the rest is history.

B: SOLES SWEAT – FEATURING 215TFK AND STRAY

West Coast MC’s and scensters Cerebral Vortex and Buddy Leezle are 215 The Freshest Kids, They featured on Rustie’s CafE De Phresh and together with Stray they remind us that hip-hop is about partying, ladies and most of all having a dope sneaker collection. With smooth flows they low ride dEbruits’s bass-heavy and lo-slung beats and add that Californian sunshine, 80’s old skool electro hip house with all the D’s on it from Drexciya and Dilla to Sunny. Spongy (sub)Bassline wobble, dopebeats, dEbruits Funk and Stray’s insastiable hook “Do you wanna Dance with me" combine perfectly.
